Getting started
Sign up, watch your first subject, ask your first question and invite your team, in about five minutes.
Typestream watches the news for the people, companies, products and topics you care about, and answers any question about that coverage. This page takes you from signing up to your first answer. It takes about five minutes.
1. Sign up
Go to the sign-up page and sign up with Microsoft (work, school or personal) or with your email and a password. If you use email, we send a link to verify it.
You get an organisation of your own, named after you. Rename it in Settings → Organisation. If a colleague invited you, you join their organisation instead.
New organisations start on a trial with credits to spend. See Credits and billing.
2. Watch something
On Home, type what you want to watch in the composer, the box that says Ask anything, or tell me what to watch:
Watch Halden Mobile and their CEO.
Typestream researches the names, works out who or what you mean, and writes a profile for each. If a name could mean two things, it asks you which, with choices. It then checks each profile against recent articles and tightens it until it's right. You never have to sort articles yourself.
When it's ready, it offers to fill in the last 30 days of coverage and tells you the price. Click Start watching. Each subject gets a dashboard and two quiet monitors. Read more in Subjects.
3. Ask a question
Ask anything about the coverage: in the composer on Home, on a subject's page, or from anywhere with ⌘K (Ctrl K on Windows).
How has tone toward Halden Mobile changed this month?
Typestream plans how to answer, says what it will reuse and what it costs, and runs. A sampled answer arrives within seconds, and the chart tightens as the rest arrives. Click any number to see the articles behind it. Read more in Asking questions.
4. Keep it
- Pin an answer to put it on the subject's dashboard as a live card.
- Watch this turns an answer into a monitor that alerts you when it changes. See Monitors and alerts.
5. Bring your team
In Settings → Members, invite colleagues by email and choose their role. Members use Typestream; admins can also manage members, channels, spending limits and billing. Subjects, dashboards and monitors belong to the whole organisation. Chats stay private to whoever started them until they share them.
If you're stuck
The checklist in the sidebar shows what's left to try, and ? lists the keyboard shortcuts. Use Feedback in the app to tell us what's wrong: it sends us the page you're on, so we can find it. Or write to support@typestream.nz.
