Terms of service

These terms are the agreement between Typestream Limited, a New Zealand company ("Typestream", "we"), and the organisation that uses Typestream ("you"). By creating an organisation, or by using Typestream as part of one, you agree to them on the organisation's behalf, and you confirm you're allowed to.

1. The service

Typestream watches public news coverage for the subjects you choose, and answers questions about it with charts, explanations and the articles behind them. We provide it through our website and app, and later through an API and connected AI agents.

Answers are made by AI models that judge each article and give a probability, not a certainty. Every answer shows how it was made and the articles behind it, so you can check it. Typestream's answers aren't professional advice. Check what matters before you rely on it, especially before you publish it or act on it.

2. Your organisation and accounts

An organisation has owners, admins and members. Owners and admins control who's in it, what it spends and how it signs in, and they're responsible for the people they invite.

Keep sign-in details secure, and tell us at once if you think someone has got into an account. You're responsible for what's done under your organisation's accounts, except where it's our fault.

You must be at least 16, and using Typestream for a business or organisation, not as a consumer.

3. Trials, plans and credits

• Trials. A new organisation starts on a trial with credits to spend for a set time. When it ends, choose a plan to carry on; if you don't, your subjects pause and your data is kept as described in section 8.
• Plans are subscriptions that set your seats, subjects, a monthly credit allowance and your auto-approve limit. They renew each period until cancelled. The allowance doesn't roll over.
• Credits pay for the AI's work. One credit is one US cent. Every action is priced before it runs, and anything over your auto-approve limit asks first. Credit packs last 12 months from purchase. Credits that expire first are spent first.
• Payment is through Stripe. Prices exclude taxes such as GST unless they say otherwise; we add tax where the law requires it.
• Refunds. Credits and subscription fees aren't refundable, except where the law requires it or we've made a mistake. If we charge you wrongly, we'll put it right.
• Price changes. We'll tell you at least 30 days before a plan's price changes. Credit prices follow the current cost of the models, and every action shows its price before it runs.

4. Using Typestream properly

Use Typestream only as our acceptable use policy allows. In short: lawfully, not to harass or surveil private individuals, not to republish articles in full, and not to attack, overload or copy the service.

5. Your content

"Your content" is what you and your organisation put into Typestream: subjects and their profiles, chats, questions, monitors, dashboards, uploads and settings. It stays yours.

You give us permission to store, process and display your content only to provide Typestream to you, to keep it secure, to support you when you ask, and to improve the service in ways that don't expose your content to anyone else. We don't sell it, and we don't use it to train AI models.

When your content includes personal information, we process it as your processor under our data processing agreement, which forms part of these terms. Our privacy policy covers personal information we hold as ourselves, such as your account.

6. News content

The articles Typestream reads belong to their publishers. Typestream shows a headline, a short snippet and a link to each article, never its full text. What you do with articles outside Typestream is up to you, and must respect the publishers' rights. Some outlets require a licence for monitoring use in some countries; if you need one, you're responsible for getting it.

7. Availability and support

We work to keep Typestream available and fast, and publish its status at our status page. We may change or improve features; we'll tell you in advance before removing anything you rely on. Unless we've agreed service levels with you in writing, Typestream is provided without a guaranteed level of availability.

Support is by email and through the app's Feedback. Enterprise support terms are agreed with you.

8. Ending the agreement

You can cancel your plan at any time; it runs to the end of the period you've paid for. Owners can delete the organisation from its settings; the deletion becomes permanent after 30 days.

We can suspend or end your access if you break these terms in a serious way, don't pay what you owe after we've reminded you, or if the law requires it. Where we can, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to fix it.

When the agreement ends, you can export your content for 30 days. After that we delete it, except what the law requires us to keep, and backups, which expire on their own schedule.

9. Liability

Typestream is provided for business use. To the extent the law allows, the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and sections 9, 12A and 13 of the Fair Trading Act 1986 don't apply, and you agree that's fair and reasonable.

Neither of us is liable to the other for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost profits, revenue or data, however it arises. Our total liability to you in any 12 months is limited to what you paid us in those 12 months. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for fraud.

10. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. We'll tell owners and admins at least 30 days before a change that affects you materially takes effect. If you don't agree, you can cancel before it does.

11. Law

These terms are governed by New Zealand law, and the courts of New Zealand have jurisdiction.
